WORK HISTORYJun, ‘97-Present. Network Support Analyst, Fairview-University Hospital.
Helped IMS department to move more than 30 department from their own NetWare 3.x Server to one NetWare 4.x Server. Converted about twenty five hundred workstations to connect to the new server and installed Fairview standard suite of applications. Converted all the Lantronics networked printers to HP JetDirect.
The process include doing the workstations inventory, finding out what application users are running in a particular department, which server they login, where is there shared directory located, if they share files with other department. After inventory comes the Server side duties and then the workstation side responsibilities.
Server side responsibilities include creating the new users code on the NetWare 4.x server, creating departmental profile script for special mappings and login script, creating the print queues, creating the departmental directories with appropriate rights, etc. Moving there departmental specific programs from there old server to the new server and testing it. On the cut over date move their personal and departmental data from their old server to the new server.
Workstation side responsibilities include for dos/windows 3.11 machines, changing workstations to connect to the new server, installing the Wollongong TCP/IP stack, installing Fairview standard suite of applications which include MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, GroupWise 4.x, WordPerfect 6.1, and Unisys Telnet Sessions. All the applications were running from the network. For windows 95 machine moved from MS Client for NetWare networks to Novell Client 32.

Installed windows NT 4.0 Server and made it a print server for a small workgroup of about fifty people. With HP JetAdmin software configured HP LaserJet 5Si/MX, HP DeskJet Color 1600CM, and HP DesignJet 755CM (plotter) using TCP/IP, and Etalk for MAC printing. Created internal home page on NT using Internet Information Server II and MS Publisher. Installed and configured new PCs for new users. Everyday Responsibilities include solving any kind of problem on the network. Troubleshooted all sorts of printer problem. Other problems related to MS Exchange 95 and MS outlook 97, MS Word 95/97 , MS Excel 95/97, MS Access 95/97. Iomega jaz and zip drives under win 95 and WinNT 40. Installed and configured PC-MAC-LAN (to share network b/w MACs and PCs), Troubleshooted Domain connection problems, etc.

Installed windows NT Server 4.0. Installed Novell NetWare client 4.x for Windows 3.11, Novell Client 32 for Windows 95, and Novell Intranetware client for Windows NT 4.0. Connected Workgroups, ‘95, and NT workstations with Novell and Windows NT Servers. Configured and installed different software like MSMail, MsExchange, Netscape, Internet Explorer 3.01, Lawson, ArcInfo, ArcView, AutoCAD release 13, MsSchedule+ and more, in that operating environment. Moved every user from MSMail to MsExchange 4.0 (Client). Moved every user from Windows 3.11 to Windows NT 4.0 workstation and Windows 95. Setup out-of-the-box PC’s for new users. Upgrading old PC’s so that they can have Windows NT or Windows 95. Installed HP, Lexmark, Cannon, and Plotter Printers locally as well as on the network. Provided End-User support.
